Who we are and what we do!

The E.B.P.A. came into being some 24 years ago with the aim of being an active lobbying body that could react more quickly than the existing multi-layered administrative bodies.

Apart from our lobbying work the Association has, this in the past twelve months, introduced, in conjunction with gala Leisure, a Masters Tour Series of events - competition at the highest level open to all competitive bowlers at very affordable membership and entry fees.

This year all the Masters events have taken place at the Bournemouth IBC.  Next year it is planned to hold three Masters Tour events at different locations affording more members the opportunity to enter.

The Masters Tour takes the place of the prestigious Max Engel Trophy, for the past 22 years a highly competitive indoor singles competition through which members qualified from regional centres.

Tournament Format change

I understand that the tournament format will change as follows:

There will now be a maximum entry of 64, divided into 16 groups. A round robin stage will guarantee everyone at least 3 games. The top two from each group go through to the knock-out phase. Each game in the the round robin matches will be one set of 9 ends or perhaps 2 x 5 end sets. Details to be confirmed! The knock-out phase format will probably be the same as this year; 2 sets of 7 ends with a 3 end tie-break.

ENDS

This appears to be a very good point at which to again draw members attention to the EBPA Forum and suggest that members visit said forum and add your comments, start a new thread if necessary.
